The convoy home has began, left Carpenter Creek this morning, heavy rain has sent us on our way... A stop in Kaslo to take the pups for a swim at the lake, then we went to the hotsprings... Now a quick lunch stop in Nelson at The Preserved Seed... Yummy...
Some family are camping in New Denver for a couple of days, so we went touring around the Sandon Museum on Thursday, New Denver's Friday Market and the Kaslo Saturday Farmers Market...
The Carpenter Creek valley is full of claim posts much like the one seen below. This claim post is named the Climax 2 and the Sunrise and the claims are 500 meters to the left and right of this post... and is located on our property... found one silver ore so far...
Went on another trail making journey thru our property and it looks like we found our potential cabin site... The grassy bit in the following picture. Enough of a level bench for a small cabin, it may take a couple of years tho as we have to make a good trail to it with boardwalks as it's dense with shrubs, ferns and flowers... Let the daydream/planning begin...
Garth reads out load from SILVER, LEAD & HELL, The story of Sandon... interesting stories from Sandon's past... "Sandon was not typical of Canadian mining towns..." Oh to have a time machine... Sounds like quite the adventure.
Started the day with some blueberry pancakes for breakfast...
And made a packed healthy lunch with a sandwich of turkey, radish sprouts, Swiss cheese on rye bread...
And head out for some trail making down thru the dense cedar forest to Carpenter creek, it was a jungle down there. Made it down to the waterfall and back up to the road... beautiful yet challenging, 160 meters in 5 and a half hours.
Walked down the road and found an easier slope so we will make a trail down another day, looks like we found our potential cabin site...
Our neighbor Rob is currently building a cabin... He is situated about a km or two down the road from us along Carpenter creek... One or two good seasons ahead of us... Next year we will build something grander than our outhouse...
Took the pups for a morning dip in the Solcan Lake then went to the farmers market... Got rained out but we had just enough time to get some fresh local blueberries and some fixings for lunch... A fun little market that happens every Friday from 10 to 2 in New Denver...
